END OF THE BOUNCE

When I did my bounce roundup the other day the underlying message was: there are no solid numbers to be had anywhere, although all things considered there probably was a very decent post-convention bounce for Bush. Mark Kleiman crunches a few more numbers today – and I am not even sure if he’s correct – but his comments make one thing clear: the convention is history, time to move on. A lot has happened since the convention so fresh statistics trying to measure a bounce are no doubt polluted by events independent of the convention. We are now going into far more interesting territory: the debates, the impact of which is probably equally hard to project statistically.
