BOUNCE ROUND-UP

BOUNCE ROUND-UP

While I am still enjoying my post-Instalanche bounce, George Bush is enjoying his post-convention bounce, but it is next to impossible to quantify the size of the spike in support for Bush. And then, the only thing that really matters is the impact on the Electoral College, projections on a national level are too broad and thus hardly informative. Now that we’ve had a few days to let the Republican Convention sink in, the best way to deal with this is I guess a round-up of various commenters around the sphere:

La Shawn Barber agrees that it’s wiser to look at the Electoral College projections;

Which can be found over are Daly Thoughts, who runs an excellent Electoral College Breakdown projecting a narrow lead for Bush;

But Stephen Green’s Electoral College projection looks very different with a pretty big lead for Bush;

The Command Post reports on the Newsweek projection of a big bounce for Bush;

And PoliPundit has one of the better analyses of the Newsweek poll and concludes that things are indeed looking good for Bush;

And if you break down the Kerry numbers Betsy Newmark underlines how desperate they look for the Democrat;

Patterico looks at how the LA Times compares the Bush bounce and the Kerry bounce of a little while back;

While the California Yankee explains some of the discrepancies in the numbers;

But James Joyner is looking beyond the numbers and argues that we are looking at a Comeback Prez;

But all the excitement over the Bush numbers shouldn't be taken for granted as Blogs for Bush warns: “don’t get cocky”

That sentiment is shares by Right on Red who thinks the polls look fishy;

Kevin Drum keeps Kerry hopes alive, questions the bounce and says it’s still a toss-up;

And finally Joshua Marshall points to evidence that internal polls of both campaigns had President Bush up roughly four points on John Kerry.

In short, this random selection tells us that things are looking good for Bush. The President however needs to keep working hard to sustain this post-convention momentum and secure his second term, it won't be over until the early morning of November 3.
